Tricia Corrigan - a history
Tricia began playing piano at the age of 4, and Irish whistle shortly afterwards. At the age of 16, whilst learning to speak Irish at Coláiste Bhríde, Rann na Féirste, Tricia performed Antaine Ó Donaille's translation of "Lullaby", with Ciara Holland on guitar, live on Raidió na Gaeltachta. The demo of another Gaelic translation which also appears on the album, "I Don't Wanna Talk About It" was aired on BBC Radio Ulster shortly afterwards. At 19, she joined "Cíotóg" with musicians Michael McShane and Rory Kierans, and performed a mixture of Irish traditional music and cover versions in and around Co. Armagh. "Love in a Secret" was written at this time. Tricia continued to sing whilst studying Gaelic at the University of Ulster in Coleraine During her final year, Tricia represented Ireland at the International Music Festival in Coleraine, performing "The Holy Ground". Soon after this stunning performance, she was asked by London-based producer and songwriter Andrew Holdsworth to record an album, and "A Different Kind of Beautiful" was born. |
